Alalsheikh said, ‘We will restore the legacy of The Ring Rankings to its old mechanism with a fully independent panel that lives up to the Ring Magazine’s golden era. We will continue to raise the prestige of The Ring Titles, and plans are already underway to have a yearly extravagant awards ceremony to celebrate the very best in the boxing industry.’

He concludes, ‘Let’s get the Bible of Boxing to heights that it has never seen in the past.’

Oscar De La Hoya, who purchased The Ring Magazine in 2007 for $7 million, told Forbes that he sold the magazine to Turki Alalshikh for $10 million.

De La Hoya said, ‘The offer from Turki Alalshikh was an offer that I could not refuse. It’s in great hands. I strongly feel that Turki Alalshikh, because of his love of the sport is going to continue to grow the brand and make sure that the Ring Magazine continues to thrive, grow and to give fans the best content.’

The Ring Acquires Social Media Account

X users today may have noticed that popular boxing journalist, Michael Benson, could no longer be found. Instead, his account, which posts breaking stories and all the latest boxing news, has been rebranded, now going by the handle @ringmagazine, and using a new profile picture featuring the publication’s iconic logo.

This marks one of many steps in Turki’s plans for the publication and coincides with the release of the first printed edition in over two years, which Turki revealed on his X account just over a week ago.

The cover of this new edition is donned by Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, who are set to clash in their heavyweight rematch, following Usyk’s SD win over Fury in May this year. Usyk became the first Undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis.

With The Ring magazine now in print and active on social media, it is clear there is a resurgence of the popular publication, and the Saudi investment could mark a new chapter for ‘The Bible of Boxing’.
