Andrei Dascalu Shows His Class In Dominant Decision Over Upset-Minded Veteran Lewis Van Poetsch

Romanian Super middleweight prospect, now based out of London, Andrei Dascalu extended his unbeaten professional record to 4-0 (1 KO) on Saturday night with a 40-36 points win over career journeyman Lewis Van Poetsch at a ‘Goodwin Boxing’ promotion out of the York Hall, Bethnal Green.

Van Poetsch is at the latter stage of his professional career and is looking to upset unbeaten prospects in every fight before hanging up the gloves at the end of 2022. He is 3-2-1 in his last 6 going into this fight but quickly realised that he stood no chance with Dascalu, who dominated the contest from start to finish and was close to ending the show a few times in the third and fourth rounds.

Dascalu started the first couple of rounds slow, looking to establish his jab and settle into the contest. Fast-forward to the third round, Dascalu increased the tempo of his work alternating between combinations and well-disguised, single, clean power punches.

After Dascalu began to shoe shine in the third and fourth, Van Poetsch attempted to fire back but was largely unsuccessful and met with left hook counters as he was attempting to close the distance on the much taller Dascalu.

Shane McGuigan’s Update On His Relationship With Lawrence Okolie

The 168-pound prospect entered the Romanian TV show ‘Survivor’ in 2021 and has built a sizeable fanbase through that venture as well as his faultless professional boxing career. There was strong support for Dascalu who will be looking to move to six rounds after tonight and sign with the many televised promoters in British boxing as he continues to learn his craft.
