Chris Billam-Smith To Fight Domestic Rival On July 30

European Cruiserweight Champion Chris Billam-Smith will face domestic rival Isaac Chamberlain on July 30 in Bournemouth Live on Sky Sports Boxing. Billam-Smith previously promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing has signed a one-fight deal with BOXXER to achieve a lifelong goal of fighting in Bournemouth.

Billam-Smith is expected to return to Matchroom/DAZN after this fight to carry on his career with them but due to the cruiserweight depth at BOXXER/Sky that will soon receive a massive addition, it is not completely out of the picture that he stats with Sky. Chamberlain is promoted by Hennessey Sports whose fighters have found a home on Sky after Wasserman claimed the Channel 5 deal.

Chris Billam-Smith vs Isaac Chamberlain Fight Breakdown

Billam-Smith (15-1) is very highly ranked in all the governing bodies (WBO #2, IBF #3, WBA #5, WBC #7) and is on the verge of a world title shot. The Bournemouth cruiserweight claimed two victories over Tommy McCarthy that elevated his career past domestic level especially with the second being a stoppage but will face another domestic foe in Issac Chamberlain.

London’s Chamberlain (14-1) stopped Dilan Prasovic in one round in his last outing, quicker than world champion Lawrence Okolie. Chamberlain has not fought at the level of Billam-Smith but many see a lot of potential in him and claim this could be a very difficult fight for CBS.

Chamberlain’s sole defeat comes to Okolie in 2018 in an O2 headliner. Billam-Smith’s one loss comes to Richard Riakporhe back in 2019. The winner of this fight could very well have the opportunity to avenge their respective losses as both Riakporhe and Okolie could soon be BOXXER/Sky Sports fighters.
