Could Demetrius Andrade be the best fighter at 160lb’s?

WBO Middleweight World Champ Demetrius Andrade steps through the ropes again on Thursday in Miami to take on a willing opponent in Luke Keeler. Keeler, 32 from Ireland holds a record of 17-2-1 so has tasted defeat unlike Champ Andrade with a record of 28-0-0 however, he has said in an interview with Sky Sports

“I’m coming to take the belt. He’s going to have trouble in there.”

Demetrius Andrade is the heavy favorite with many experts in Boxing but does this mean Andrade will be looking past Keeler?

Andrade has been reported to be chasing a unification fight for some time with the widely regarded pound for pound champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez with Canelo looking elsewhere in multiple divisions to see where he can better extend his legacy within the sport, but if Andrade remains to be the WBO World Champion we have to see that fight at some point.. right?

Aside from the Canelo fight, Andrade and his team have mentioned an offer has been extended to Jermall Charlo with Eddie Hearn with comments coming from [@SiriusXMBoxing] via @MichaelBensonn-

“I’ve made Charlo an offer to fight Andrade, 2/3x as much as he’s ever made, can’t get a reply.”

Eddie Hearn has also been shown in a YouTube based interview with SecondsOut and Radio Rahim where he provides email evidence and conversations on the spot that the offers were made.

Demetrius Andrade has now signed a new 4 fight extension with Matchroom so Andrade must have confidence in Eddie Hearn and Matchroom that they are able to provide the fights he wants to be in over the next 12-24 months.

As we see more activity in the ring from Andrade over the coming year could we see him take the top spot within the 160 division, I guess we will have to see what fights materialize but fights with the likes of Charlo, GGG and Canelo ( if he fights again at Middleweight) are the fights fans want to see him in.
