Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis earns his 26th Knock Out As Hector Luis Garcia Refuses To Leave Corner For Round 9

After outside-the-ring drama almost put this fight in jeopardy of being canceled, Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia went on as scheduled on PPV for PBC. The two faced off in Davis’ backyard at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC near Davis’ hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.

Coming into the fight Gervonta Davis was coming off a knockout win over Rolando Romero in his only fight of 2022. Hector Luis Garcia was undefeated coming into the contest at 16-0.

The two southpaws spent the first round feeling each other out, with neither man committing to combinations. By round 3 Garcia was starting to find some success on the shorter Davis. However, Davis responded quickly in the 4th and seemed to stun Garcia momentarily.

The action continued into the 8th with both men finding success, this was until an altercation broke out in the crowd, resulting in the Referee pausing the action. This went on for multiple minutes until action was resumed.

Davis seemed to have made better use of the break as he came out of the pause in action firing combinations on Garcia. These shots had Garcia clearly rocked, until the bell had rung to end the round, saving Garcia from a possible knockout. In the corner, Garcia exclaimed that he could not see and did not come off the stool to fight for round 9.

Gervonta Davis proves once again that, despite starting slow at times, he always seems to end the night with a bang. He improves to 28-0 (26 KOs) while Garcia suffers his first loss and drops to 16-1.
