Romero vs Scotney Winner To Be #1 Challenger For IBF Championship At 122-pounds

England’s unbeaten Super Bantamweight contender, Ellie Scotney (5-0) faces the toughest test of her career this Saturday on the Katie Taylor undercard at the Wembley Arena, London as she challenges Spain’s, Mary Romero (8-2) for the European Championship at 122-pounds.

Eddie Hearn told the Matchroom Boxing YouTube channel at the Taylor-Carabjal media workout today that the Romero Scotney winner would also be the mandatory challenger to the IBF Super Bantamweight champion, Australia’s Cherneka Johnson (15-1, 6 KOs).

Scotney was hoping to compete for a world title in 2022 according to her trainer Shane McGuigan, but with that not coming to fruition she instead faces a fellow top 10 contender in what should be the perfect test for the unbeaten Londoner before challenging for a world championship.
