Smith vs O Maison: Talented Sheffield Prospects Headlines NXT GEN In Local Derby
Dalton Smith is one of the most talked about prospects in the country. Rarely do we get international interest in British fighters this early in their career, but it seems Smith has impressed fans over the pond who feel he can be a real threat at a 140-pounds. Smith has had all eleven of his contests with Matchroom, eight with Sky Sports, three with DAZN in the UK and now finally gets the chance to headline in an All-British, All-Yorkshire and All-Sheffield clash.
Dalton Smith has previously won the English, WBA Intercontinental and WBC International Silver titles and now goes for his fourth belt; the prestigious British Title. Smith faces fellow Steel City fighter and former sparring partner Sam O’maison. Many were surprised a NEXT GEN show was taking place at a big arena but with the support for Smith and the card nicely filled with ticket sellers, the crowd will be no different than a normal championship card in the UK.
Dalton Smith vs Sam O’maison will take place this Saturday, August 6 at the Utilita Arena, Sheffield, England Live on Global Sports Streaming Platform DAZN. There are expected to be over 5,000 people at the Yorkshire events venue for Smith O’maison, largely made up of Sheffield Wednesday football club (who Dalton has linked himself to) fans following their local fighting star.
Smith vs O Maison – Undercard, Start Times, Main Event Ringwalk Time
The Smith vs O Maison Before The Bell Preliminary Broadcast live on DAZN and DAZN/Matchroom YouTube will get underway at 4:00 PM BST (11:00 pm ET, 8:00 am PT) and feature five matchups, including four unbeaten prospects. Junaid Bostan looks to go 2-0, Nico Leviars has his third professional outing, Aqib Fiaz faces journeymen Jordan Ellison, Kieron Conway warms up before the Ammo Williams fight on the Canelo GGG 3 card, and Hopey Price faces tough Nicaraguan Alexander Mejia
The Smith vs O Maison Main Broadcast live only on DAZN worldwide will begin three hours later at 7:00 PM BST (2:00 pm ET, 11:00 am PT) and features five contests. Opening the Smith O Maison undercard is unbeaten Mancunian lightweight Campbell Hatton against Michal Dufek. Following this is 6″6 unbeaten cruiserweight prospect Jordan Thompson who takes a big step up against Vasil Ducar. Ducar extended Chris Billam-Smith ten tight, competitive rounds in 2021.
5-0 Heavyweight Johnny Fisher who has sold over 800 tickets for the card, faces 3-1 Frenchmen Michal Reissinger. In the co-feature, Derby’s Sandy Ryan gets her chance at revenge against Argentina’s Erica Farias who previously beat Ryan in a split-decision upset back in March. It is an early ‘must-win’ fight for Ryan as she cannot afford another loss at this level if she intends to go on to win a world championship.
Dalton Smith and Sam O’maison face off in a Sheffield derby for the prestigious Lonsdale belt in the main event. O’maison, the former English champion, looks to spring the upset over the highly rated 140-pounder that is Dalton Smith, who many feel can go on to win championships well beyond the British he is fighting for on Saturday. Smith vs O’maison Main Event ring walks are expected to occur no earlier than 10:00 pm in the UK (5:00 pm ET, 2:00 PT) with an estimation of 10:15 pm.
