If you didn’t witness the eWBSS Final showdown between Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson yesterday…you missed out! Though it was speculated that the final bout between Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson left over 8,500 fans literally on the edge of their seat, the WBSS Facebook Page finale fight post amassed over 300,000 views!
Who could have thought that Tyson would triumph over Ali!?
Following the success of the Heavyweight Legends Virtual eWBSS Tournament, it has now been announced that a second season will proceed! Featuring Middleweight division legends such as Sugar Ray Robinson, Marvin Hagler, Ray Leonard, and Kelly Pavlik it’s bound to be one hell of a show! This week will see Hagler v Pavlik fight it out tomorrow night, Leonard v Ronald Wright wrangle Wednesday and Carlos Monzon v Jake Lamotta take on Thursday.
Starting the event tonight and finishing Sunday 5th April, the first quarter-final began tonight at 7pm UK which saw Sugar Ray Robinson against Fernando Vargas with Robinson stopping Vargas inside the distance.
Regarded widely as ‘the greatest boxer of all time’, Sugar Ray Robinson’s performances throughout both welterweight and middleweight class divisions founded the “pound for pound” rankings. According to boxing247.com, Robinson won the Middleweight title for the fifth time’ on 1958, March 25th, starting March 25th 2020 that the record stands and is, “…likely to never be broken.”
Robinson will now go forward into the semi-finals to face either Marvin Hagler or Kelly Pavlik.
This Middleweight series is just getting started is sure to be as exciting as the Heavyweight series we just saw.
