Andrei Dascalu Dominates Lewis Van Poetsch, Extends Unbeaten Professional Record To 4-0

Andrei Dascalu Shows His Class In Dominant Decision Over Upset-Minded Veteran Lewis Van Poetsch

Romanian super middleweight prospect Andrei Dascalu, now based in London, extended his unbeaten professional record to 4-0 (1 KO) on Saturday night with a 40-36 points victory over career journeyman Lewis Van Poetsch at a ‘Goodwin Boxing’ promotion at York Hall, Bethnal Green.

Andrei Dascalu Dominant Win Over Lewis Van Poetsch

Van Poetsch, in the latter stages of his professional career, has been looking to upset unbeaten prospects before retiring at the end of 2022. He came into this fight with a 3-2-1 record in his last six bouts but quickly realized he stood no chance against Dascalu, who dominated from start to finish, nearly ending the fight on a few occasions in the third and fourth rounds.

Dascalu started the fight cautiously, using the first couple of rounds to establish his jab and settle into the contest. By the third round, however, he picked up the pace, alternating between fluid combinations and well-placed single power punches.

As Dascalu began to unleash flurries in the third and fourth rounds, Van Poetsch tried to fight back but was largely ineffective. His attempts to close the distance were met with sharp left-hook counters from the much taller Dascalu.

The 168-pound prospect gained widespread attention after appearing on the Romanian TV show Survivor in 2021, building a sizeable fanbase in the process. There was strong support for Dascalu at the event, and he will be looking to move up to six-round bouts after this victory.

With continued development, he aims to sign with one of the many televised promoters in British boxing as he hones his craft.
