There has been much speculation on Tyson Fury’s next move. Be it the AJ fight or a Tyson Fury retirement, fans have been waiting with baited breath to see what The Gypsy King will do after his second loss to Usyk.

Tyson Fury lost to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in December 2024. In their first fight, Fury lost on a split decision, though in the rematch, the result for the Ukrainian was unanimous.

Fury now sits at 34-2-1, whilst his opponent has risen to 23-0, and is the first undisputed heavyweight since Lennox Lewis. Fury marks the fourth Brit in a row Usyk has conquered, with the P4P elite fighter defeating AJ twice, Daniel Dubois, and Derek Chisora. Usyk also stopped Tony Bellew in his last fight at cruiserweight.

Tyson Fury Retirement

Tyson Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, has said previously that he would leave the decision entirely up to Fury and his family, and would not encourage him to fight again if he did not want to.

Well it seems today Fury has made his decision, releasing a video to Instagram in which he says,

‘I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing it’s been a blast’.

He ends his video with the following message, ‘Dick Turpin wore a mask’.

This is likely referring to what Fury believes was a robbery in the Usyk fights, with Dick Turpin being famous for his daylight robberies as a highwayman.

This is not the first time Fury has ‘retired’, and many believe it won’t be the last. The Gypsy King last retired after facing Dillian Whyte, before returning to the ring in a trilogy against Derek Chisora.

It is unclear if this really is it for Tyson Fury, though many believe we will see him again soon. Anthony Joshua has been vocal about wanting to finally get this fight made in 2025.
