Joseph Parker eyes his toughest test to date in Daniel Dubois, who he is set to collide with on February 22nd in a bid to become a two-time heavyweight world champion. Speaking on Parker’s future plans, his promoter had much to say about what Joseph Parker next fight could be, if he gets past Dubois.
Parker has been on a dominant run of form lately, defeating feared boxers in Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder. Parker upset Wilder in a near-shutout performance victory, even appearing as though he might stop The Bronze Bomber at one point in the fight.
Following that, the Kiwi showed tremendous heart to get up off the canvas twice and win a majority decision against Big Bang Zhang.
Joseph Parker has a record of 35-3, with his three losses coming at the hands of Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte, and Joe Joyce.
Parker has called before for a rematch with Whyte, though given Whyte’s recent performances, fans believe this is beneath Parker’s level at this point in his career. Additionally, Joyce, who is the only man to stop Parker, has looked far below his best, losing a decision to Derek Chisora in a recent sluggish showdown.
Joseph Parker Next Fight – Anthony Joshua?
Joseph Parker next fight is 22-2 Daniel Dubois, who may well have the most impressive recent run of wins in the heavyweight division, following his second career defeat to Oleksandr Usyk with wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua – who he defeated in devastating fashion.
Parker and Dubois will fight in a defence of Dubois’ IBF world title. Some believe Dubois to be looking past Parker, though, as he notably stepped in the ring to request a rematch with Usyk following his second win over Tyson Fury in December.
If Parker wins against Dubois, there is two clear options for the New Zealand man. If Usyk is to continue at heavyweight, we may see the pair clash in a bid for all the marbles. As impressive as Parker has been, however, it is a big ask to go up against the Ukrainian.
Which leaves the second option, defend against Anthony Joshua, and avenge the only career loss worth avenging right now.
Parker’s promoter, David Higgins, said, ‘If Parker wins against Dubois and is offered a big money fight, a rematch against Joshua at Wembley in three months, I’m sure he would jump at it’.
A potential other option is Tyson Fury, though not only are Parker and Fury close friends, but The Gypsy King recently announced his retirement, and many think only a big domestic clash against AJ will bring him out of it.
The only thing that is certain is that Joseph Parker next fight on Feb 22nd is sure to be a must-watch clash.
