Joseph Parker Next in Line For Undisputed Crown, Frank Warren Says

Promoter Frank Warren has shared his reaction to the announcement of the Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois rematch while also confirming that Joe Parker is now in line for a shot at the undisputed heavyweight title.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Warren explained how the WBO has mandated that the winner of the rematch must defend the belts against Parker, the current WBO mandatory challenger.

Joseph Parker Will Fight for Undisputed Next

“With Joe Parker, the WBO just put a mandate out saying that the winner of this fight has to defend against the WBO mandatory challenger, which is Joe Parker, which is a great fight by the way,” he said.

Fans will be glad to hear it, as Parker was robbed of his chance to become a two-time world champion when Dubois withdrew from their fight with illness, forcing Parker to face Martin Bakole instead.

“People might be saying ‘oh Joe must be peed off he’s not fighting Daniel’ – well, he’ll be fighting for four belts now.”

Parker has become a fan-favorite after his wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.

The Hall of Fame promoter also made clear his hopes for a British success story in the upcoming undisputed clash.

“Whoever wins it, which I hope is going to be our man [Dubois], they’ll be challenging for four belts, so he’s in a better place.”

Warren has been instrumental in managing Dubois’ career resurgence following his controversial TKO loss to Usyk last year following a controversial low-blow that dropped the Ukrainian.

The rematch will now give the Londoner a second chance to claim the undisputed crown, with the added incentive of setting up a mega-fight with Parker should he prevail.
