BBBofC Refuse To Sanction Daniel Dubois’s WBA Title Defence Against Lucas Browne On Nov 26

Daniel Dubois Looks To Fight Lucas Browne Next, BBBofC Refusing To Allow Fight

Britain’s WBA (Regular) heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (18-1, 17 KOs) is likely to defend his version of the world title against Australian puncher Lucas Browne (31-3, 27 KOs) next per Shane McGuigan’s interview to SecondsOut.

Dubois-Browne would headline a Frank Warren/Queensberry Promotions card on BT Sport that is rumoured to take place on November 26 at London’s 20,000-capacity O2 Arena.

However, WBA #11 Browne exclusively tells NoSmokeBoxing that he has accepted the fight in principle but the BBBofC has refused to sanction the contest at the moment due to Browne being 43 years old. NSB understands that this issue is being worked on and could be resolved.

Dubois was in discussions to face Dillian Whyte but NSB understands the fight fell through for financial reasons. Whyte requested a sum of £3,000,000 for the bout, one which Queensberry refused to pay.

Browne was brutally knocked out on British soil by Whyte in 2018. The Australian returned to the UK a year later only to suffer the same fate against Dave Allen. Rugby player Paul Gallen managed to stop the 43-year-old in just one round when they fought last year.

Browne now gets another opportunity in a significant fight due to his major upset win over Junior Fa (19-1) back in June; a bout that was heavily slated as a mismatch beforehand. Most fans do not believe Browne should be in the ring with Dubois and would be disappointed to see the match being made.
