BIG BANG Zhang Zhilei Is A Monster

The Giant from China, Zhang Zhilei really does bring the \’big bang\’ to his fights. As the opening fight on the PPV show for Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol. Zhang Zhilei dismantled the tough and experienced Scott Alexander midway through the first round.

Zhang Zhilei went into the fight with a record of 23-0-1 18 KOs but made easy work of Scott Alexander, who himself had never been stopped before in the professional ranks.

Scott Alexander was drafted in for the fight against Zhang Zhilei after Zhang\’s initial opponent Filip Hrgovic had pulled out at short notice due to a family tragedy.

At the age of 39, Zhang Zhilei has raised questions amongst boxing fans and professionals on whether he is coming to the end of his career or whether he would be able to compete with the younger heavyweights. But, Zhang doesn\’t seem to let doubters concern him.

Zhang Zhilei has previously stated that he would like to fight Anthony Joshua in the professional ranks after losing to him in the Amateurs, so could this be a fight to happen in the near future?

Zhang, even at the age of 39 brings a glimmer of hope for the boxing fans in China to have a future heavyweight world champion.

In a previous fight with Jerry Forest, Zhang suffered his only blemish to his record after getting a draw, Zhang was rushed to hospital after the fight and diagnosed with kidney failure and anaemia. Zhang has stated that since making adjustments to his diet he has had no further issues.

Zhang certainly seems like he\’s here for a while, expressing that he feels like he has at least 5 more years left in his career, which would take him to 44 years old.

Many more KOs to come it seems.
