Callum Simpson vs Ben Ridings Finishes Inside Two Rounds

Callum Simpson extended his professional record to 10-0 (8 KOs) after his two-round demolition job over Ben Ridings, now 5-3, in the main event of a Kevin Maree promotion at the Oldham Leisure Centre.

By doing so, the 25-year-old Barnsley puncher claimed the vacant Central Area Super Middleweight Title and increased his KO streak to 8 with his last five victories coming inside two rounds.

Ridings has also suffered defeats to Jez Smith, and Thomas Whittaker Hart up at 175-pounds but Simpson becomes the only fighter to stop Ridings and he does so at a more comfortable weight class for Ridings.

TWH had a competitive bout (78-74 win) with Ridings whilst Smith did win every round on the cards but nobody has dealt with him in the destructive fashion that Simpson did.

A real statement was made in the division yesterday night and this could be the calling sign for big promoters to sign the talented Yorkshire fighter.

Simpson needs rounds and inevitably step-ups moving forward, and there are plenty of quality names at the domestic level at 168 that could provide just that.

Successfully matching Simpson with the likes of Germaine Brown or Musa Moyo early next year would be another good gauge in telling us where Simpson is and how far he could go.
