The Trilogy Contest between Saúl ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin on September 17 will be a DAZN Pay-Per-View (PPV) offering in the UK & Ireland. The Price point for Canelo vs GGG 3 will be £9.99 for current subscribers, and £17.98 for new subscribers with this price including one month’s subscription to DAZN.
Why PPV For Canelo vs GGG 3?
Putting Canelo GGG 3 on PPV is a somewhat shocking decision from DAZN due to their USP being the removal of unnecessary PPV and with this fight being early morning in the UK and a \’hardcores fight\’, DAZN is really hurting their brand image to their subscribers for a very low return in terms of PPV buys and UK TV money generated.
Having three PPV events (KSI Wassabi, Canelo GGG 3, Eubank Benn) on a subscription service like DAZN in less than eight weeks is a terrible business decision and essentially removes the value of being a subscriber in the UK. DAZN is no longer different from the competition in the UK in terms of what they put on PPV and the value for money is not really there either especially with them not offering other content. When they do have premium boxing content, it goes behind a second paywall.
