Dalton Smith To Fight For British Title On August 6 in Sheffield

Sheffield’s Dalton Smith (11-0) will headline in his hometown for the first time when he takes on Sam O’maison (17-3-1) for the vacant British Super Lightweight Title on August 6 Live on DAZN. The BBBofC approved the fight via a request from Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. Dalton Smith vs Sam O’maison is expected to headline a Next Gen show at the arena.

Smith has already boxed twice in 2022 and will be looking to stay as active as possible as he attempts to fast-track through the ranks. A top amateur, he has looked sensational as a professional and is often regarded as the best prospect in the country with serious world title ambitions.

O’maison, the former English super lightweight champion, has only boxed once post-pandemic in a 6-round comeback fight. He has a draw and loss to European title challenger Kay Prosper. The 31-year-old southpaw is also from Sheffield making it a local derby for the British title and another good fight for the progression of Dalton Smith.

Future Fights for Dalton Smith

Should Smith win he is expected to return at the end of the year in a defence against Akeem Ennis Brown, who he was initially ordered to face for the title but pulled out. He may also look at the European title in 2023 as he is expected to go the ‘traditional route’.
