Denzel Bentley Next Fight: British Middleweight Champion To Defend September 16

Denzel Bentley Next Fight To Headline York Hall For British Middleweight Title

Battersea\’s Denzel Bentley (16-1-1, 13 KOs) will defend his British Middleweight championship against Manchester\’s Marcus Morrison (24-5) on the 16th of September at the iconic York Hall, Bethnal Green, London live on BT Sport.

The fight comes as a result of Bentley\’s promoters Queensberry Promotions requesting a voluntary defence of Bentley\’s title. The mandatory challenger for Bentley\’s belt is unbeaten Brad Pauls. New cruiserweight signing and BOXXER Series winner Ellis Zorro will also be on the card. Heavyweight David Adeleye is also expected to feature.

Denzel Bentley vs Marcus Morrison Breakdown

Bentley, a two-time British champion, previously stopped Mark Heffron in their rematch to win the vacant British title in 2020. A short reign ended in the first defence when Felix Cash viciously stopped Bentley in three rounds in what was a 50-50 affair going in. Bentley was the underdog when he went to the \’lion\’s den\’ on a Wasserman/Channel 5 show to narrowly outpoint unbeaten Linus Udofia to win the title a second time and now makes his first defence.

Morrison, trained by Joe Gallagher, rekindled his career with an away corner stoppage of Italian Emanuele Blandamura in 2019. Post-pandemic Morrison was picked as the opponent for Chris Eubank Jr and surprisingly went 10 rounds with all three judges giving him 2/10 rounds in what was a flat performance from Eubank. Last time out, Morrison moved up to 168 where he was much too small and was the victim of a brutal body attack from Zach Parker leading to a 4th-round stoppage.

Denzel Bentley is a strong favourite going into this fight and should be able to beat Morrison convincingly but if he can stop him it will be impressive.
