Romero vs Scotney Winner To Be Mandatory Challenger For World Super Bantamweight Title

Ellie Scotney Next Fight: Faces Top 10 Opponent On Eubank Jr Benn Undercard

Ellie Scotney Next Fight To Be For The European Super Bantamweight Title On Eubank Jr Benn Undercard

Lewisham\’s unbeaten Super Bantamweight contender, Ellie Scotney (5-0) will box for the third time in 2022 on the October 8 Eubank Jr Benn Undercard live on DAZN PPV. Scotney faces the toughest test of her career as she challenges Spain\’s, Mary Romero (8-2) for the European Championship at 122-pounds.

Scotney was hoping to compete for a world title according to her trainer Shane McGuigan, but with that not coming to fruition she instead faces a fellow top 10 contender in what should be another good test for the unbeaten Londoner in her fourth consecutive outing at the prestigious O2 Arena.

After changing trainers from Adam Booth to Shane McGuigan before her third professional fight, Scotney rediscovered her love for boxing. She faced tough Argentine Jorgelina Guanini at Ally Pally in February where she won a very tight decision and most recently convincingly outpointed Maria Cecilia Roman who entered 2022 as a title holder.

Romero came to notoriety with a dominant 8th-round stoppage over another undefeated Brit in Amy Timlin on a DAZN Barcelona card last September. The Spaniard went to \’hyped\’ prospect Maria Cecchi\’s backyard in May in what was set to be a close fight but she dominated the contest and sent a statement out to her fellow Super Bantamweight boxers.

Both Ellie Scotney and Mary Romero are on the verge of a world title shot and on October 8 they will fight to see who gets it. Scotney is a favourite but Romero is a very live dog.
