Gavin Gwynne vs Craig Woodruff 2: British Lightweight Title Fight Rematch Agreed

Gavin Gwynne vs Craig Woodruff 2 Rematch Set, Likely To Land On Cordina-Rakhimov Undercard

Welsh rivals Gavin Gwynne (15-2-1, 3 KOs) and Craig Woodruff (12-6-1, 4 KOs) will rematch for the British Lightweight title on a card promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing per the latest BBBofc Circular.

Gwynne Woodruff 2 will most likely take place on the undercard of Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov‘s IBF super featherweight title defence against former champion, Wales’ Joe Cordina pencilled in for April 22/29 at the Cardiff International Arena, Wales live on DAZN.

The pair battled to a majority decision draw in their highly engaging contest this September on Channel 5. Woodruff started the contest better but Gwynne’s pressure quickly caught up with him, controlling the majority of the middle rounds and looking in control until Woodruff came back in the third quarter and finished the fight stronger.

The exciting nature of the fight called for an immediate rematch and the BBBofc ordered just that. They now likely get to compete on a huge card for the country and a big global platform in Matchroom/DAZN. Matchroom has a roster of lightweight talent should the winner choose to work with them in the future including the likes of Maxi Hughes, Gary Cully, and Angel Fierro.
