Jordan Thompson Next Fight Confirmed For IBF Trinket Belt On Dalton Smith Card

6\’6 Mancunian Cruiserweight puncher Jordan \’Troublesome\’ Thomspon (13-0, 11 KO\’s) takes a big step up in opposition against recent Chris Billam-Smith opponent, the Czech Republic\’s Vasil Ducar (11-5-1, 10 KO\’s) for the IBF European Cruiserweight title. Thompson has blasted out his opposition in double quick time since turning professional and lacks much-needed championship rounds which he hopes to get on the Dalton Smith vs Sam O\’maison undercard against Ducar on August 6 in Sheffield live on DAZN.

Thompson, a sparring partner of Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, signed with Eddie Hearn\’s Matchroom Boxing in the middle of last year. A move he did so after boxing on just 10 occasions in five and a half years. Since then, Thompson has had a couple of tune-ups where he blasted two opponents out in a round and then faced Argentinian Mariano Gudino (14-5), who took Lawrence Okolie seven rounds in 2019, and was supposed to get some valuable rounds but he managed to stop Gudino in under four minutes.

Jordan Thompson Next Fight: Why Fight Vasil Ducar?

Jordan Thompson at 29 years of age needs to get a move on in his professional career if he has ambitions of competing at world level across both cruiserweight and heavyweight. So it is no surprise that Matchroom are attempting to move him rather quickly through the ranks with another leap in opposition against Vasil Ducas who many would argue is a tougher test than many of the domestic fights at English and British level.

Ducar has faced quality opposition throughout his career with four of his five defeats coming at the hands of Chris Billam-Smith, Mike Perez, Aleksei Egorov, and Kevin Lerena, Ducar has only been stopped by Cuban southpaw Perez earlier this year. Ducar had a very competitive fight with Billam-Smith in 2021 with many feeling Ducar won 4-5/10 rounds. A stoppage win for Jordan Thompson would be mightily impressive and could see him jump up another level against the likes of Dylan Bregon and Fabio Turchi.
