Joyce Parker Undercard – Ekow Essuman To Defend British Welterweight Title

Essuman To Defend British and Commonwealth Titles Against Mandatory on Joyce Parker Undercard

Unbeaten British and Commonwealth Welterweight Champion, Nottingham-based Ekow Essuman (17-0) will defend his titles against the English Champion and mandatory challenger Samuel Antwi (14-1). Per the British Boxing Board Of Control, Essuman vs Antwi will be a part of the Joyce Parker Undercard on September 24th at the AO Arena, Manchester live on BT Sport Box Office in the UK and ESPN + Stateside.

Ekow Essuman vs Samuel Antwi Breakdown

Ekow Essuman dethroned former champion, Chris Jenkins, for the titles via an 8th-round KO after a brutal body attack on the Joyce Takam card 12 months ago. He made his first defence against Danny Ball where he once again proved his class breaking Ball’s jaw en route to a 6th-round KO. Essuman’s latest appearance was an underwhelming, lacklustre points win over Darren Tetley on the Fury Whyte card.

Samuel Antwi’s sole career defeat comes to Emmany Kalombo back in 2018. Since then he has won 7 consecutive fights including stoppage wins over Jez Smith and Darren Tetley as well as a points win over unbeaten midlands welterweight Conah Walker in an exciting affair. Antwi goes into the Essuman fight as a slight underdog but it is a very competitive fight and one Antwi can definitely win.
