Leigh Wood vs Mauricio Lara Is Back On For Feb 4 In Nottingham, Live on DAZN

WBA Featherweight champion, Britain’s Leigh Wood (26-2) is likely to reschedule his fan-friendly collision with Mexican dangerman Mauricio Lara (25-2-1, 18 KOs) according to an Eddie Hearn interview with Pro Boxing Fans.

Despite Hearn stating that Wood will return at the end of January, International Boxing News report that the pair are closing in on a deal to face each other on February 4 at Nottingham\’s 9,000-capacity Motorpoint Arena live on DAZN.

Wood and Lara were originally supposed to meet on September 24 at the same venue in what would\’ve been a sell-out crowd, however, just 10 days out Wood pulled out with an injury. Lara fought a month later, knocking out Jose Sanmartin in the third round of a destructive performance.

Wood is the mandatory challenger for the WBA (Super) Champion Mexico’s Leo Santa Cruz (38-2-1). Nevertheless, a 25% purse split and likely having to travel overseas as the away fighter makes LSC vs Wood very unlikely to materialise and Wood will instead look at bigger fights such a domestic clash with Josh Warrington should he win.
