Lucas Browne Blasts \’Sad\’ BBBofC For Refusing To Sanction Him To Fight Daniel Dubois, ‘How Am I Too Old?’

Lucas Browne Releases Instagram Rant At BBBofC For Determining Him To Be \’Too Old\’ To Face Dubois

Former WBA (Regular) Heavyweight world champion, Australia\’s Lucas Browne (31-3, 27 KOs) blasted the British Boxing Board Of Control (BBBofC) in an Instagram video today for refusing to sanction a fight between himself and current WBA (Regular) Heavyweight champion, Britain’s Daniel Dubois (18-1, 17 KOs).

Browne told NoSmokeBoxing yesterday when requested for comment that he agreed to face Dubois in principle on November 26 at London’s 20,000-capacity O2 Arena, a Frank Warren/Queensberry Promotions headliner live on BT Sport. However, before receiving a bout agreement the BBBofC refused to sanction the fight due to Browne being 43 years old.

Lucas Browne goes in on the BBBofC for refusing to sanction a fight between himself and Daniel Dubois.

\”Some board somewhere says he\’s (Lucas Browne) 43, he\’s too old, we\’re not going to sanction him. How sad is that? It\’s not like I\’ve been beat around the head all my career, I\’ve got three losses in total. How does this work? How exactly does this work? Where a body of people who are obviously too old to fight themselves just go \’oh no he\’s too old\’.\”

\”I\’m coming off two great knockout wins with two belts and a world rating, how am I too old? If I was too old wouldn\’t have any of that. How in any way whatsoever is that right? And how can that be allowed to stand?\”

The Australian received another opportunity in a significant fight due to his major upset win over Junior Fa (19-1) back in June; a bout that was heavily slated as a mismatch beforehand but Browne, a heavy underdog, finished the contest inside a round. Browne is ranked #11 in the world with the WBA and is their Oceania champion.
