Murat Gassiev Returns, Here Is Who He Is Fighting And How Can You Watch It

After continuous spells of inactivity, Murat Gassiev returns to the ring this Friday for his first twelve-round heavyweight fight.

Who Is Murat Gassiev Fighting?

Murat Gassiev takes on the American, Carlouse Welch (21-1-2) who goes into the fight with a record of 18 knockouts, but he’s never fought past the 8th round. In that sense, it’s justifiable to say that Gassiev still has not faced a noteworthy test in his heavyweight career but this does represent a marginal step-up from Wallisch and Seferi.

Given his last bout at cruiserweight was back in 2018, against Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed clash no less, he’s had a stagnant introduction to the glamour division. But at 28 years old, he does still have time on his side.

How did Gassiev perform in his last fight?

Gassiev looked to land his iron-hard right cross and did successfully connect on occasion. He didn’t have it all his own way with his opponent, Michael Wallisch. The German kept him at bay with the jab and some neat work to the body.

However, Gassiev timed that right cross to perfection dropped Wallisch and had him in a world of bother, proceeding to end the contest via referee stoppage just after the bell had sounded for the end of the fourth round.

How can I watch Gassiev vs Welch?

The fight is being broadcast on the Ushataika: Sport-Express Youtube channel and is also available on the free-to-air channel, Ren TV in Russia.
