Oleksandr Usyk Makes Shocking Statement on Conor Benn’s Fight with Chris Eubank Jr

Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2 has now been announced, but Usyk has weighed in on another all-British boxing rivalry, and his verdict has raised a few eyebrows.

The undisputed heavyweight champion, who defeated Dubois in 2023, as well as Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury twice,  will meet Dubois again this summer after a controversial low-blow incident in their first contest. Usyk, who Frank Warren referred to as a ‘Brit-basher’, was asked about his opinion on Saturday’s mammoth British bout – Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr.

Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois faced off in Wembley today.

Usyk admitted he hadn’t watched every moment of the action but still felt confident giving his assessment of the fight:

“I think Benn won,” he said. “I didn’t watch the entire fight and count. But I had him winning the first six or seven rounds.”

The Ukrainian’s comments may come as a surprise given the mixed reactions from fans and pundits, with some believing Eubank Jr. rallied in the second half of the bout and did more than enough to warrant a win. Some suggest a draw was fair, but it’s hard to find any who gave all of the first seven rounds to Benn.

Nonetheless, Usyk’s insight is one to take on board, even if many believe he’s better in the ring than watching on from outside of it.
