Riakporhe vs Turchi: Full Card Breakdown

In the main event, London\’s Richard Riakporhe (14-0) takes the next step towards a world title when he meets Italy\’s Fabio Turchi (20-1) in an official eliminator for the IBF Cruiserweight Championship held by Mairis Briedis. Riakporhe has also previously won a WBC Eliminator and welcomed a fight with the WBA Champion Arsen Goulamarian not leaving him short of options.

Turchi\’s sole defeat comes to Tommy McCarthy via split decision in 2019. He holds a win over European title challenger Dylan Bregeon and former commonwealth champion Tony Conquest. A consensus European-level fighter, Riakporhe should have the tools to beat him and likely the power to stop Turchi on Saturday\’s main event.

As chief support to Riakporhe vs Turchi, Germaine Brown (12-0) takes another 50-50 fight against Zak Chelli (11-1-1). An all-London battle as an eliminator for the British Super Middleweight title, this has caught the eyes of many fans and is arguably the fight of the night. Chelli has boxed at a higher level with a controversial draw with Jack Cullen that many had him winning while Brown is the more active fighter with the momentum.

Elsewhere on the Riakporhe vs Turchi card, Chris Kongo (13-1) faces battle-tested gatekeeper, Germany\’s Sebastian Formella (23-2) for the WBC International Welterweight Title. Formella has gone the distance with Shawn Porter and Conor Benn and albeit lost almost every round in both fights, there is no questioning his chin, toughness and heart. A good name on the record for Kongo as he looks to get back in the mix and could give him some competitive rounds.

Riakporhe vs Turchi: Press Conference Quotes

RIAKPORHE vs TURCHI

Riakporhe: “This fight is perfect for me because it sets us up for a big world title clash in my next fight, so there’s a lot to fight for”

“We aren’t taking Fabio Turchi lightly, we made sure we covered all areas in training to prepare for this fight so we can go in and deliver what we want to deliver on Saturday night. Every single fight is so important now.”

Turchi: “I’m ready to have a battle on Saturday night. I think this is a very even fight, I have a lot of respect for Richard, so I’m hoping for a great fight. Whether it’s by KO or points, the important thing is to win the fight”

BROWN vs CHELLI

Brown: “I’ve been training hard, Zak Chelli’s a good fighter, but me and my team have come up with a perfect game plan that I’m going to execute on Saturday night”

“50/50 fights excite me. A lot of boxers don’t want to take 50/50 fights, but I love them and I love proving people wrong”

Chelli: “IThe better the boxer, the better I perform. I stopped my last opponent who had a similar record to Germaine. People are expecting me to box in this fight rather than go for the stoppage, but I’m going to show on Saturday night that I am a boxer and a puncher by getting a lovely finish”

KONGO vs FORMELLA

Chris Kongo: “I\’m ready to put on a show, but the only thing I’ve been focusing on for the last 8 weeks is Sebastian Formella. I’ve seen loads of him, we’ve been studying him on film. I can’t wait to show what I can do on Saturday night. We all know I come on stronger, later in the fight. We’ll see how it goes and if the stoppage comes it comes.”

Formella: “Chris Kongo is a strong fighter. We’ve prepared for a big and difficult exercise on Saturday night, we’ve had lots of time to prepare for this. The winner of this fight has the opportunity to fight for a very big title”
