Sandor Martin Headlines Stacked DAZN Card in Barcelona Homecoming

On April 1 Matchroom and DAZN return to Spain for the first time in the calendar year with Sandor Martin. The last time they hosted boxing in Spain was December 3rd, 2021 when Kerman Lejarraga scored a ninth-round KO of Jack Flatley for the European super welterweight championship.

Barcelona Star Sandor Martin On The Verge of World Title Shot

Headlining is the homecoming of Sandor Martin (39-2), who scored a huge majority decision upset over four-weight world champion Mikey Garcia last October in Fresno, California. The Top 10 Super Lightweight Martin takes on Jose Felix (39-5-1). Felix, albeit levels below Martin, showed plenty of ambition in his last fight despite losing on points to Tyrone McKenna. Felix got up from a round one knockdown to drop McKenna in the third and lose a decision.

Martin is ranked top 5 in the world with three different governing bodies at two weights meaning plenty of options available for him including a likely vacant 140-pound title shot as the belts start to fragment. However, he must get through Felix at the Palau Olímpic Vall D’Hebron in Barcelona for his world title ambitions to materialise.

Martin-Felix DAZN Undercard Featuring 4 Intriguing Matchups

On Chief Support, Jorgelina Guanini (9-4-2), the former IBF Super Flyweight champion, takes on Dave Allen’s 5-0 charge Stevi Levi. Levi impressed last time out on the undercard of Kid Galahad v Kiko Martinez in Sheffield and has a life-changing opportunity to make a real statement and set up big fights for her moving forward.

However, Guanini is no easy task. She recently gave amateur standout Ellie Scotney a huge challenge in her last fight.

On the Sandor Martin undercard, 2016 Spanish Olympian Samuel Carmona (6-0) will take on seasoned veteran Mexico’s Joel Cordova in a great 50-50 matchup in the super flyweight division. Joel Cordova, who went to battle with Julio Martinez for the WBC flyweight title last June, has another opportunity to get back into title contention. Carmona has only been six rounds once and despite his vast amateur background is a professional novice, making this an odd step up to take so early.

Furthermore, Spanish prospect John Obregon (9-0) takes on 31-year-old England’s Kyle Lomtey (10-0) in a matchup of unbeaten fighters at Middleweight. And Alen Babic’s sparring partner and fellow Croatian light heavyweight Hrvoje Sep (11-0) takes on MTK Golden Contract winner Ricard Bolotniks (18-6-1) on the Sandor Martin undercard.

Bolotniks extended 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist Joshua Buatsi to 11 competitive rounds last august at fight camp. This is another tough matchup for the home fighter and easily the toughest of them all with Bolotniks going in as a heavy favourite. A win here for Sep, who has never been scheduled for more than 6 rounds, would really fast-track his career by at least 2 years.

Overall an action-packed night full of 50-50 fights topped by local star Sandor Martin. Live from Barcelona on Friday, April 1 from 6 pm (UK Time) exclusively on DAZN.
