Craig Richards To Face Ex Joshua Buatsi Opponent At Wembley Arena
Per Source, WBA title challenger Craig Richards (17-3-1, 10 KOs) will make his ring return on the Dillian Whyte undercard on November 26 at the OVO Arena, Wembley, London. The Londoner will face Latvia’s Ricards Bolotniks (19-6-1) in a 10/12 round light heavyweight contest.
Whyte is expected to work with long-time partners Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and sports streaming service DAZN for this card with an opponent to be announced soon. Hearn told boxing media yesterday that Whyte’s bout could be announced on Saturday’s Eubank-Benn DAZN PPV broadcast.
Richards challenged for Dmitry Bivol‘s light heavyweight championship in May of last year proving himself in a respectable performance. Last time out, the Croydon man suffered a tight 12-round points decision to unbeaten Joshua Buatsi in a compelling, anticipated London derby.
Bolotniks also faced defeat to Buatsi when he was the step-up opponent for the 2016 Olympic medalist in the third edition of 2021’s ‘Fight Camp‘. Since then, Bolotniks ripped the unbeaten record away from Hrvoje Sep (11-0) on a Matchroom Spain card earlier this year and has been patiently awaiting another opportunity.
Bolotniks is a solid opponent for Richards coming off a defeat and should give Richards a competitive fight; although Richards a favourite in the contest.
