Taylor vs Catterall 2 Rematch Now Targeted For March 4

Taylor vs Catterall 2\’s Target Date Moved One Month From Feb 4 To March 4

WBO Super Lightweight champion Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) and Chorley\’s Jack Catterall (26-1, 13 KOs) will participate in a much-anticipated rematch of their highly controversial first clash at the 12,500-capacity OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland likely on March 4, 2023.

March 4 is the planned date but not a confirmed one yet as there are other factors that may play a part in deciding the final date such as the undisputed heavyweight title tilt between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk that would easily push Taylor Catterall 2 off the date.

Catterall went into the first fight as a heavy underdog, given little chance by most fans and even though Taylor\’s performance was far from his best, there was no doubt that Catterall stepped up many levels that night and deserves to be in the elite mix at 140.

The general feeling was that mandatory challenger Catterall had done enough to dethrone the undisputed champion Taylor, but a heavily criticised split decision went in the favour of the Scotsman. 12 months on, Taylor will attempt to right the wrongs whilst Catterall hopes to prove that he truly is the better fighter.

Taylor Catterall 2 is also headed to Sky Sports’ Pay-Per-View platform: Sky Sports Box Office with a price point yet to be determined. Their first fight was on regular Sky Sports and seen by over 900,000 people.

This will mark the third BOXXER PPV card following Khan-Brook in February 2022 and Eubank Smith six weeks earlier.

2020 Olympic silver medalist Ben Whittaker (2-0, 1 KO) will make his ring return on the Taylor vs Catterall 2 undercard after seven months out due to injury.
