Wilder vs Helenius: Preview, Start Times, TV Channel, Fight Card, And Main Event Ring Walks
Wilder vs Helenius – Hardest Punching Heavyweight Begins Journey To Become Two-Time Heavyweight Champ
Former WBC World Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) makes his much-anticipated ring return on Saturday, October 15 against Finland’s Robert Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs) at the 16,000-capacity Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
Helenius is a former sparring partner of Wilder and was notably used by the ‘Bronze Bomber’ for his trilogy contest with Fury. The Finnish fighter’s career almost ended with a KO loss to Gerald Washington in 2019, however, eight months later he sprung a massive upset over Poland’s Adam Kownacki – a win he repeated on the Fury Wilder 3 undercard.
Helenius is a relatively good opponent for a comeback and Wilder will need to show that he still has something left to offer the heavyweight division, if he is going to get past the ‘Nordic Nightmare’. Fans are expecting an explosive performance from the former champion that will fuel the hype train moving into 2023
Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) will hope to match Deontay Wilder with Andy Ruiz at some point next year. The WBC explained in September that should Wilder and Ruiz both get through their respective contests, they would be ordered to fight in a final eliminator. Ruiz outpointed old Wilder foe, Luiz Ortiz, in September, putting all eyes on Wilder now.
