Paris 2024: SIX Olympics Boxers to Look Out For This Year

The upcoming Paris Olympics are sure to bring out the very best in competitive sport, with a wide array of talented amateur Olympics boxers vying for greatness in France’s capital.

Bakhodir Jalolov (UZB) – +92kg

A name many with an interest in amateur boxing may have heard already, Uzbek Bakhodir Jalolov is set to compete at super heavyweight for Uzbekistan in Paris. According to Boxrec, Jalolov boasts an amateur record of 100-14, and a professional record of 14-0, with all 14 wins coming by way of KO. Jalolov holds wins over Frazer Clarke, Justis Huni, and Richard Torrez Jr, and notably lost to Joe Joyce in Rio, perhaps eyeing a rematch in professional boxing in the future, as Joyce tries to recover his career with a win over Derek Chisora this weekend. Jalolov won gold at the 2020 Olympics.

Teremoana Teremoana Jr. (AUS) – +92kg

Also at super heavyweight, Aussie giant Teremoana Jr makes his Olympic debut after becoming Australian super heavyweight champ in 2023. Teremoana marks only the third Australian Olympics boxer to box at super heavyweight ever. Teremoana also holds a win over now-professional Justis Huni, though Huni also holds a win over Teremoana.

Jack Marley – (IRE) 92kg

2023 European silver medallist, Jack Marley, marks the first Irish heavyweight to compete in the Olympics since 1996. The six-time Irish champ bears a record of 40-12 according to Boxrec and was named Ireland’s ‘Boxer of The Year’ in 2023. He recently earned a bronze medal at Bulgaria’s prestigious Strandja Memorial Tournament.

Jahmal Harvey (USA) – 57kg

An exciting one to watch, the United States’ Jahmal Harvey qualified for the Paris Olympics following a gold medal win at the 2023 Pan American Games. The 21-year-old boasts an impressive record of 59-7 according to Boxrec, and claims he’s interested in going pro sometime after the Olympics.

Abdumalik Khalokov (UZB) – 57kg

Also from Uzbekistan, 57kg Abdumalik Khalokov eyes Olympic gold this year. The 24-year-old has won gold medals at 57kg at the 2023 World Amateur Championships, 2022 Asian Games, and 2022 Asian Amateur Championships, as well as silver at 60kg at the 2021 World Championships. Boxrec has his record as 80-10.

Hasanboy Dusmatov (UZB) – 51kg

It is undeniable that Uzbekistan boast a seriously impressive squad of Olympics boxers, with another Uzbek, Hasanboy Dusmatov also one to watch. With a record of 6-0 as a pro and 120-13 as an amateur, Dusmatov has already won an Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, as well as 3x gold medals at the Asian Championships, 1x gold medal at the Asian Games and 1x gold medal at the World Championships.
