WBO #1 Archie Sharp To Fight Final Eliminator For Navarrete-Valdez Winner

Archie Sharp To Face Liam Wilson In Early 2023, Likely On Charlo-Tszyu Undercard

The WBO’s #1 rated challenger at a 130-pounds, Britain’s Archie Sharp (22-0, 9 KOs) will face Australia’s WBO #4 Liam Wilson (11-1, 7 KOs) in a final eliminator for the WBO Super Featherweight Title that is due to be contested by Oscar Valdez and Emmanuel Navarrette on Feb 3.

NoSmokeBoxing understands that the clash between Sharp and Wilson is likely to take place on the undercard of the undisputed 154-pound championship fight between Jermell Charlo and Tim Tszyu on the 28th of January at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Wilson is represented by Matt Rose’s No Limit Boxing, who also are the promoters of Tszyu, and although the Charlo-Tszyu event is a TGB/PBC show, Rose’s No Limit has an undercard slot which NSB understands will be used for Sharp-Wilson.

Wilson’s sole defeat comes to Joe Noynay (18-2-2) who scored a 5th-round TKO over the Australian in their July 2021 fight. Wilson rematched Noynay straight away, evening the score with a brutal KO in the second round.

Sharp, who is with Richard Schaefer’s Probellum, last fought on an untelevised show in June to keep busy scoring a 10-round decision win over Alex Rat (14-4-2). The English fighter has been highly ranked in the WBO for some time now and after unsuccessfully calling out Shakur Stevenson for his world title shot, Archie Sharp finally gets his big opportunity.
