Maisey Rose Courtney Looks To Be Fast Tracked, Win World Titles Within 1 Year

Debutant Maisey Rose Courtney Speaks To NoSmokeBoxing Ahead Of Her Fight On Saturday

Maisey Rose Courtney is the first female boxer to train out of the Matchroom Elite Gym (Tony Sims) and the renowned Repton Amateur Boxing Club. She is the latest in the line of female fighters that have opened up opportunities for women that were previously non-existent.

Courtney started boxing at just eight years old and went on to become a 6-time national champion and team England representative, so it comes as no surprise that she has managed to train out of the Matchroom gym and debut on such a big stage.

The 22-year-old takes on Judit Hachbold (5-17) this Saturday, October 29 at the Wembley Arena, London live on DAZN. Courtney fights on arguably the perfect stage as she debuts on the undercard of the greatest female fighter of all time in Ireland’s Katie Taylor, who is the main reason why Courtney has the opportunity to box on such a big platform.e

Courtney explained to NoSmokeBoxing in an exclusive interview that she had trained her whole life for this moment and she was excited to be finally entering the pro ranks. The debutant is grateful for being thrown into the deep end of boxing on a big platform where she will inevitably feel huge pressure that will put her in good stead for what’s to come in the rest of her career.

Courtney indicated that she was not here to mess around and wanted to be fast-tracked as quickly as possible. “I’ll become a world champion in a year, a year and a half”. She is obviously confident of this fate and with her huge amateur pedigree, it could very well be the case.

Look out for Maisey Rose Courtney’s professional debut on the before-the-bell portion of the Taylor Carabajal undercard.
