In a fast-moving turn of events, the Adam Azim fight cancelled news has been confirmed following intervention from the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC). The scheduled eight-round super-lightweight contest against Eliot Chavez, which was due to take place on June 15 at the Oakwell Football Ground, Barnsley, will no longer go ahead after the board withdrew permission for the bout to take place.

Adam Azim Fight Cancelled After Medical Concerns
The decision follows a formal request from Dr. Ramon Escalada Juarez, a legal adviser to the Torreon boxing commission in Mexico, who raised concerns about Eliot Chavez’s weight-cutting methods. Specifically, the doctor alleged that Chavez had been using a sauna to cut weight, a practice banned by the Mexican commission due to its associated health risks.
Dr. Ramon Escalada Juarez wrote:
To the British Boxing Board of Control,
I am writing this letter as the legal advisor of the boxing commission of Torreon, Cohuila in Mexico. We have just been notified that the Mexican professional boxer, ELIOT CHAVEZ, who is scheduled to fight tomorrow in Barnsley, UK, against Adam Azim was using the sauna this morning to make weight for this fight.
The fight was arranged on extremely short notice (Monday), he arrived to your country last night and the fact of him using the sauna for making weight (a practice not permitted by our rules and I think not also permitted by your commission rules) plus all the other circumstances mentioned before, puts him in big risk of life.
I have just had a conversation with the doctor of our commission who is deeply concerned about this situation and the potential effects, therefore he requested me to strongly recommend that you stop Mr. Chavez from fighting tomorrow.
You can see the proof of this information in the stories of his personal Facebook page
On top of that, you can see attached a video where he declares he has just left the sauna and a photo which shows that he is in the sauna.
I hope you can act immediately and prevent a tragic event in the ring.
In response to the letter and subsequent health concerns, the BBBofC has taken the step to officially remove the fight from the upcoming Boxxer card. The board cited medical safety standards as the reason behind the cancellation, ensuring Chavez will not be cleared to compete on the Barnsley show.
