She fights 31-year-old Maira Moneo who is 14-1 with her only defeat coming due to a clash of heads against Yanina del Carmen Lescano in 2020. The pair face off on the undercard of the bout between Callum Simpson and Zak Chelli in Simpson’s hometown of Barnsley.

“Sweet” Caroline Dubois has previously stated that she seeks the fight with Taylor, with BOXXER promotor, Ben Shalom saying it’s ‘the dream fight for us’ when speaking to Sky Sports. As well as her scheduled rematch with Amanda Serrano, the fight Taylor has been rumoured to be chasing is a third bout with former undisputed light-welterweight champion, Chantelle Cameron.

Caroline Dubois – “It’s up to her. The ball is in her court!”

When speaking to @LeeNoSmoke for the NoSmokeBoxing YouTube channel, Caroline Dubois questioned whether even if she wins this next fight, if Katie Taylor be willing to fight or if she would rather vacate,

“Why would she fight this young rookie when she can fight Amanda Serrano, or Chantelle Cameron, or even retire. So it’s up to her.”

When asked about whether it’s important to think about future boxing fights, she iterated that a boxer must understand the bigger picture but ultimately concentrate on the task at hand.

“I think it’s important for a boxer to stay aware of the business side of things, so I try to stay savvy. But I do try to stay focused at the same time.

“I can’t control what someone else is going to do, I can’t control what Katie (Taylor) or Rhiannon (Dixon) is going to do. If I can try and influence, I’ll try but at the end of the day, I can only control me.”

Future opponents for Caroline Dubois

Rhiannon Dixon is also a possible opponent for Dubois if she wins on Saturday. Dixon, 29 is 10-0 as a professional and is scheduled to face Terri Harper for the WBO lightweight championship in which Dixon won earlier this year.

Rhiannon Dixon is also thought to be chasing a unification bout with WBC & WBA champ, Katie Taylor and could meet Caroline Dubois on her way to that fight.

Ben Shalom told Sky Sports that fans could expect to see the domestic unification contest with Dixon next, or if not, then possibly within the next 6 months.

Another lightweight who is in the mix having won the IBF World title in her last fight is Beatriz Ferreira. Ferreira, 31 who is 5-0 as a pro currently has no fight scheduled as she decided to compete in this years’ Olympic Games in Paris.

Despite being willing to take this fight, Caroline Dubois has said that she isn’t going to wait around and will be going straight for another World title as there is ‘lot’s of options’ for her.

Previewing Caroline Dubois vs Maira Moneo

Dubois has said that she expects her opponent to bring a lot of physical effort, tenacity, aggression as well as playing a lot of ‘dirty tricks’.

But she says that she knows if her gameplan is stuck to and she boxes like she know she can, she’ll win.

If Dubois can overcome the test on Saturday, the women’s lightweight division becomes filled with exciting, possible matchups that are likely to start happening before the end of this year.
