Teofimo Lopez Gervonta Davis opponent

Teofimo Lopez LEAKS Possible Gervonta Davis Opponent

In an interview with Teofimo Lopez, the WBO Super lightweight champion revealed the next possible Gervonta Davis opponent, and it isn’t Vasiliy Lomachenko as many have thought.

Lopez, now 20-1 with his one loss coming by upset at the hands of George Kambosos Jr, comes off back-to-back wins against Jamaine Ortiz, Josh Taylor, and Sandor Martin, and is scheduled to fight 38-7-2 Steve Claggett later this month.

Lopez commented in his interview about opponents he has tried to fight, which leads him on to discussing a fight that we’ll see ‘very soon’ involving Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

Lopez Leaks Gervonta Davis Opponent

In the interview, Lopez says of the next Gervonta Davis opponent:

‘I tried to fight Isaac Cruz, I spoke to his manager, they said woah hold on we just got the belt champ, we gotta focus on trying to get a Gervonta Davis rematch, so y’all gone see that very soon by the way’.

This comes after much speculation that Tank’s next opponent would in fact be Vasiliy Lomachenko, following his dominant victory over George Kambosos Jr, and more recently Tank’s emphatic knockout of Frank Martin.

Even Tank’s co-trainer Kenny Ellis posted regarding the Lomachenko fight, suggesting he had begun studying the opponent.

‘Pitbull’ Cruz comes off a dominant display over Rolando Romero, and is set to face Jose Valenzeula on the Crawford v Madrimov undercard.

It remains to be seen whether Cruz will get his much-desired rematch and be the next Gervonta Davis opponent, with the pair having gone the distance in 2021, with scorecards of 113-115, 113-115, 112-116 showing Cruz lost by only a small margin, remaining one of Tank’s closest fights to date.
