With Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. scheduled to collide in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26th after finally settling on a deal, all that remains is to find out who will be fighting on the Eubank Jr vs Benn undercard.
The fight is sure to gain a lot of hype, and is set to be a great night of British boxing, provided there is a solid undercard. Regarding this, there has been an array of rumours circulating social media, though a few names continue to crop up.
Eubank Jr. vs Benn Undercard
Liam Smith vs Aaron McKenna
Liam Smith has expressed that his next fight will likely be with Matchroom, and, after coming off a loss to Eubank Jr. in their rematch, is said to be facing rising star Aaron McKenna.
19-0 McKenna stopped then 14-0 Jeovanny Estela in the first round of the now seemingly cancelled Prizefighter tournament in Japan.
Viddal Riley vs Chev Clarke
Viddal Riley was set to face Isaac Chamberlain on the undercard of Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets. However, Chamberlain has since withdrawn due to injury, and it is unclear if Riley will remain on the card.
Rumours suggest Riley is set to step-up on April 26th and face 10-1 Chev Clarke, who narrowly missed out on winning the European cruiserweight title to Leonardo Mosquea.
Adam Azim vs TBC
Though the opponent is unconfirmed, it is speculated that Adam Azim will appear on this card in what could be his first defence of the IBO world title, should he win it on Feb 1st.
The Harlem Eubank fight would be an obvious choice, as it was once set to be made before falling through, and it would mean Eubank would be fighting on his brother’s undercard. Another option, however, is the Dalton Smith fight, which has been anticipated for a while.
That concludes the rumoured undercard for now, though it is expected more domestic fights will be added.
Eubank Jr and Benn were first set to fight in October 2022, but the fight was cancelled after Conor Benn was found guilty of PED use. After a lengthy process and two fights stateside, Benn is now able to fight in the UK again. It is not just Benn who has been involved in unsavoury behaviour, however, with Sky reportedly hesitant to broadcast the bout due to Eubank Jr’s close relationship with spot-fixed Mazhar Majeed.
