Jessica McCaskill Names Surprising Target If She Beats Chantelle Cameron
Undisputed Welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill (12-2) meets unified super lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron (16-0, 8 KOs) for all of the 140-pound marbles in a real pick’em fight this Saturday, November 5 at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.
Jessica McCaskill Eyes A World Title
Should McCaskill emerge victorious in her fight, she revealed to ID Boxing that she would like to face Britain’s WBA Super Welterweight champion Terri Harper next.
McCaskill “We’ve actually been talking to Terri Harper’s team and looking to move up in weight. I’ve never fought at 154, I think that’s a bigger challenge (than the rematch with Katie Taylor).”
Harper convincingly outpointed Scotland’s Hannah Rankin in September to win a championship in a second weight class.
Former rival Natasha Jonas faces Marie Eve Dicaire for the other three belts next Saturday in Manchester and Harper’s eyes will be firmly set on an undisputed fight with the Jonas-Dicaire winner. Should that not happen, McCaskill could very possibly be the next biggest available fight for Harper.
Cameron vs McCaskill serves as the chief support to the WBA light heavyweight championship fight between Dmitry Bivol and Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez live on DAZN. Also on this card, Zelfa Barrett (28-1, 16 KOs) faces Tajikistan’s Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (16-0-1, 13 KOs) for the vacant IBF super featherweight world title.
