Eddie Hearn BLASTS PBC/Showtime For Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Not Happening
Eddie Hearn Explains Why He Believes PBC And Showtime Are To Blame For Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Potentially Falling Through
Eddie Hearn vented out his thoughts on why the highly anticipated matchup between Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) is not happening in a Boxing Social interview today.
Hearn explained that he believes Al Haymon (PBC) and Stephen Espinoza (Showtime Sports) are refusing to allow DAZN to be involved in the fight and Hearn does not understand why this would be the case.
Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya (Golden Boy) stated earlier this week that both teams have agreed to the fight and the hold-up was in fact the broadcasters.
Hearn “They’ve (PBC/Showtime) built Gervonta Davis, DAZN have built Ryan Garcia, Why not have that (Tank-Garcia) on a dual broadcast?”
The British promoter also believes that the super fight between Davis and Garcia would surpass another major American clash between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford, claiming that Davis vs Garcia is ‘much bigger than Spence Crawford’.
The Matchroom boss affirmed that if the Tank side allowed the fight to be a joint PPV, it would be made very quickly. “Why are Showtime/Al Haymon so against letting a DAZN fighter air that on his platform as well? If they did (let it be on both platforms), the fight would happen straight away”
Stephen Espinoza stated last week that the fight was done but the TV networks still needed to be worked out. He declared that Showtime’s position on this was very clear and whether the fight happens or not could be dependent on the broadcast deal.
