A now-deleted Jake Paul post has turned heads in the boxing world after the influencer-turned-boxer appeared to react to Canelo Alvarez’s newly announced fight against Terence Crawford, which will be streamed globally on Netflix.
Jake Paul Post Targets Canelo Following Streaming Announcement
In the hours following the official announcement that Canelo Alvarez will face Terence Crawford on September 13 — with the bout set to stream live on Netflix Jake Paul took to X.com (formerly Twitter) with a short but pointed reaction. The Jake Paul post featured a close-up image of Canelo’s feet from the official fight poster, captioned:
“Told you he’s a pa. Paaaaaaaa.”

The word, a Spanish-language slur, was censored in the original post but widely interpreted as a jab at Canelo. The post was deleted not long after it was published but was reported on by Essentially Sports
Although Paul has previously voiced interest in fighting Canelo himself, the cryptic and now-deleted message hinted at underlying frustration with Canelo’s decision to headline a high-profile Netflix card an opportunity some speculated Paul may have been hoping for, given his own upcoming July 20 fight against Mike Tyson is also a Netflix event.
Netflix Doubles Down on Boxing with Canelo vs Crawford
Netflix’s boxing strategy continues to ramp up, beginning with Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson in November 2024, and now followed by Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford on September 13, 2025. Jake Paul is also scheduled to return on June 28, 2025, against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Another major Netflix event is set for July 11, 2025, when Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano meet in their trilogy bout. Taylor currently leads the rivalry 2-0 after winning both of their previous encounters.

Paul has yet to issue a follow-up or clarify the intent behind his now-deleted post. For now, both he and Canelo are set to headline separate major cards on different platforms though it appears the social media tension between them isn’t going away anytime soon.
