Coming off of two career-best performances against the likes of Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang, Joseph Parker eyes the heavyweight crown as he bids to become a two-time heavyweight champion in February 2025. Parker’s camp is now underway in Dublin, Ireland, and will see the challenger away from his family for three months, something he speaks on in a new vlog uploaded to YouTube.
Joseph Parker, now 35-3, is set to face Daniel Dubois in February. Parker, aged 32, has been on a great run of form since his loss to Joe Joyce, with his most recent wins coming in the form of a majority decision over Zhilei Zhang, in which Parker had to bite down on his gumshield after being sent to the canvas in rounds 3 and 8, and Deontay Wilder, who Parker defeated in a near-shutout points victory.
Dubois on the other hand has impressed lately. Aged only 27, Dubois has recently conquered names such as Anthony Joshua, Filip Hrgovic, and Jarrell Miller – beating all by stoppage, and has also shared the ring with the likes of Oleksandr Usyk. Despite being the champion, Dubois was heavily overlooked by many in the AJ fight, and made a statement in front of the 90,000-strong Wembley crowd.
Joseph Parker Leaves Family
In his recent vlog, Joseph Parker shares footage of him saying goodbye to his parents, and to his partner and children, as he sets off to Ireland for his 12-week camp. In the video we see Parker brought to tears on his way to the airport, commenting that ‘it’s the hardest part about the job, but now that we’re leaving and going to the aiport […] I’m ready for camp. I’m ready to train hard and make it worth it’.
We also see Parker’s mother pray for her son, ‘All we can do son is to pray for you, to keep you safe, and we pray for God’s blessings that you may be able to achieve your goal’.
Parker’s sister speaks on Joseph’s nature earlier in the video, stating ‘He puts his family above everything, we always talk about the sacrifices he makes for boxing, but he does that without sacrificing the most important thing, which is family’.
Parker’s preparations are now underway for what will likely be the toughest fight of his career to date.
