BILLERICAY MIDDLEWEIGHT GEORGE LIDDARD PENS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM BOXING

George Liddard Joins Eddie Hearn’s Stable After Impressive Debut

Rising middleweight talent George Liddard (1-0, 1 KO) has inked a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, following an impressive start to his professional career in 2022. The 20-year-old prospect from Essex is set to become one of the most exciting names in the 160-pound division as he embarks on his journey under the Matchroom banner.

A Dominant Debut and Promising Future

Liddard made his professional debut last November on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s clash with Jermaine Franklin at Wembley’s OVO Arena. The former amateur standout made quick work of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Nikola Matic, stopping him in just two rounds. This victory showcased Liddard’s power and potential, marking him as one to watch in British boxing.

Having represented the Billericay and Wickford ABC during his amateur days, Liddard built an impressive résumé, capturing four National Titles and two International Gold Medals before deciding to turn pro. Now, trained by former two-time Lightweight World Title challenger Kevin Mitchell and Tony Sims at the Matchroom Boxing Elite Gym, Liddard aims to build on his debut win and make waves in the 160-pound division.

Liddard: “Signing with Matchroom is a Dream Come True”

The young middleweight expressed his excitement at joining Matchroom Boxing, stating, “Signing for Matchroom has been my goal for as long as I can remember. For a boy from Billericay to have joined the biggest promotional company in the world, that just happens to be based around the corner from where I’ve grown up, is a dream come true.”

With a strong team behind him, including Mitchell and Sims, Liddard is confident in his ability to rise through the ranks. “With Matchroom and my team behind me, I’m confident I can go all the way in the sport and fulfil my full potential. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and I’m looking forward to boxing on some big shows and putting on some great performances,” Liddard added.

Eddie Hearn: “We’re Excited About George’s Journey”

Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn is equally enthusiastic about Liddard’s future, praising the middleweight’s debut and outlining plans to keep him active in 2023. “George gave us a taster of what he’s all about during his impressive debut win last November, and I’m excited to see how his young professional journey develops under the guidance of Kevin Mitchell and Tony Sims,” Hearn said.

Hearn also highlighted Liddard’s growing popularity in Essex, predicting that his fan base will expand as he climbs the professional ranks. “George already enjoys a big following in and around Essex that will only grow as he moves up the levels. We’re looking to get George as active as possible in 2023, and we’ll have news on his next fight dropping soon.”

A Bright Future in the Middleweight Division

With his signing to Matchroom and the support of a seasoned training team, George Liddard is poised for a bright future in the middleweight division. His journey from a decorated amateur career to a professional boxer under one of the sport’s most prestigious promoters is just beginning, and fans can expect to see him in action soon as he continues to build momentum.

As Liddard sets his sights on climbing the ranks, 2023 promises to be a pivotal year for the Billericay native, with more big performances and opportunities on the horizon.
