Jarrell Miller Faces Consequences for Press Conference Brawl

Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller’s upcoming fight in the UK has been clouded by disciplinary issues, as the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) confirmed that a portion of the American heavyweight’s purse will be withheld due to his conduct at a recent press event.

Miller is scheduled to come up against Fabio Wardley in a big step-up for the Ipswich boxer, whose last time in the ring saw him dismantle Olympian Frazer Clarke in one round.

Miller took his first loss to Daniel Dubois and then fought Andy Ruiz in a bout that ended in a draw in his last fight.

Jarrell Miller and Fabio Wardley’s press conference quickly descended into chaos.

The pair will fight at Portman Road Stadium, home of Ipswich Town F.C.

Their press conference was overshadowed by Miller’s aggressive outburst, in which he hurled abuse at Wardley and slapped him, prompting a brawl which promoter Frank Warren vehemently condemned.

In a letter obtained by World Boxing News, the BBBofC issued a stern warning to Miller and his team, stating that his future conduct will be closely monitored following his outburst:

“Please advise Mr. Miller’s team that his future conduct is being monitored,” wrote BBBofC Secretary Robert Smith.

“Any repeat of his behavior at the press conference on 7th April 2025 in Ipswich may result in permission to box in the UK not being granted, and disciplinary action and a fine are a possibility.”

“Therefore, it has been considered that a percentage of Mr Miller’s purse was lodged with the Board prior to the bout, and I will advise accordingly.”

Jarrell Miller was meant to fight Anthony Joshua, until he was caught cheating.

Miller is known for his outspoken and loud persona and is no stranger to breaking rules. He was famously meant to fight Anthony Joshua until he was caught using banned substances, something which many believe should prevent him from ever fighting again.

He was replaced by Ruiz and Joshua suffered his first ever defeat.

While Miller remains a popular figure among some fans for his brash and unfiltered style, this latest development adds to his troubled history that includes previous drug test failures and suspensions.

The 35-year-old is currently attempting to rebuild his career, and a UK fight marks a significant opportunity to do so, but one that now comes with added pressure to toe the line.
