Mike Tyson is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous forces in boxing history.
Tyson fought some of the best names in boxing, from Evander Holyfield to Lennox Lewis, and his raw power and aggressive style made him one of the most feared boxers of all time, and a fan favourite.
He became the youngest-ever heavyweight champion at just 20 years old after beating Trevor Berbick, dominating the division for years.
Tyson recently revealed the food and drink he’d consume before every fight.
Tyson Pre-Fight Ritual Included this Sweet Treat
Speaking to GQ in 2019, Tyson revealed that, along with his usual diet of steak and vegetables, he always consumed a chocolate bar and orange juice before every fight.
“Just to get a quick sugar rush before I go in the ring,” he explained.
The bizarre choice seemed to work for the powerhouse. Tyson often brought with him quick knockouts, with 24 first-round stoppages to his name (though one was a DQ of his opponent and another a NC).
Even this food combo couldn’t prevent what came next, though, as Tyson lost a unanimous decision to Jake Paul.
Despite the defeat, Tyson expressed pride in returning to the ring. “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” he shared on social media. “To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds… is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.”
Even decades after his prime, Tyson’s legacy, fuelled by his combo of chocolate and orange juice, remains legendary.
