Following his wins over the two figureheads of Crossover Boxing – Jake Paul and KSI, Tommy ‘TNT’ Fury was set to face Darren Till on a huge Misfits card in Manchester next year. He has now revealed that due to the former UFC star’s insistence on breaking the rules of the sport, the fight will now not go ahead.

Fury vs Till is now off.

The brother of Tyson Fury, who is set to face Oleksandr Usyk for the second time this December, has foregone his quest for titles, instead opting for career-high paydays against YouTubers. He defeated Jake Paul on a split decision, and KSI on a unanimous decision, in what was undoubtedly an awkward and messy affair due to KSI’s unorthodox tactics.

Till, on the other hand, made his boxing debut earlier this year, winning by an early TKO. The win was followed by a brawl in the ring.

Fury and Till were set to clash on January 18th in Fury’s hometown of Manchester. The pair were due to fight at cruiserweight.

In the press conference for the fight, Till maintained that if at any point he began to lose the fight, he could always just kick Fury. This, of course, is against the rules of boxing, though it’s only today that Fury has truly condemned it.

In a post on Instagram, Fury wrote, ‘I am now not fighting Darren Till […] for the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics’.

He added, ‘I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date.’

Till has replied to Fury, stating, ‘Tommy Fury you are the biggest sh**house I have ever met in my life’. Till maintained that his words at the press conference were ‘mental warfare’ and he would stick by the rules. He insists he only ever mentioned resorting to kicking once and never after that.

Till followed up his rant with another tweet, suggesting his team knew since Sunday that Fury was pulling out.

Lee Eaton, Till’s manager, added to this, ‘JUST TO CLARIFY DARREN WAS ASKED TO SELL THE FIGHT & HE DID – DT EVEN OFFERED TO FORFEIT HIS ENTIRE PURSE IF HE BROKE PROFESSIONAL BOXING RULES – MISFITS HAVE CONFIRMED DARREN TILL WILL STILL BE FIGHTING JAN 18th!!!’.

It remains to be seen who Fury’s new opponent will be, and indeed who Till will face next too.
