EverythingBoxing Updates: Joyce vs Hammer US TV, Shields vs Marshall, Lawrence Okolie

Joyce vs Hammer US TV

WBO #1 Heavyweight Joe Joyce returns to the ring against Romania’s Christian Hammer on July 2 at the Wembley Arena. Joyce vs Hammer has now been picked up in the United States by ESPN + who will show the night of championship boxing promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Boxing from 2 pm ET/11 am PT.

Shields vs Marshall

Per Source, a deal is finalised for an undisputed middleweight championship fight between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall. Shields vs Marshall will take place on September 10 at the O2 Arena and will be broadcast by Sky Sports in the UK. A decision as to whether the fight will land on PPV is unknown at the moment.

Lawrence Okolie

WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Lawrence Okolie is rumoured to be leaving promoter Eddie Hearn/Matchroom Boxing and his management company, Anthony Joshua’s 258 Management. Boxing fans expect Okolie to team up with BOXXER/Sky Sports in the search of a big domestic fight with Richard Riakporhe in 2023 should Riakporhe be able to win a title.

Okolie was mentioned as a possibility for the Usyk Joshua 2 undercard but with him possibly leaving Matchroom, that seems unlikely and instead, he could return in the summer on a different platform. BOXXER/Ben Shalom revealed they would be staging a big show on July 30, they will be having no August shows and return on Sep 3.

Joyce vs Parker

Ben Shalom revealed earlier today via IFL TV that he made Frank Warren/Queensberry Promotions an offer of £1.2m for Joe Joyce to face Joseph Parker on Sky Sports Box Office. Warren informally announced the fight to take place on BT in April before stumbling blocks in the negotiations, such as Queensberry reportedly requesting a multi-fight deal with Parker, leading to Parker signing with BOXXER/Sky this month.

Chris Billam-Smith

Chris Billam-Smith is expected to headline in Bournemouth in his next outing as part of a one-fight deal with BOXXER/Sky Sports Boxing. The rumoured opponent is domestic rival, Issac Chamberlain. Billam-Smith’s promoter Eddie Hearn put on his Instagram yesterday that they were ‘working out a way for CBS to get there’. Billam-Smith vs Chamberlain could not headline a DAZN UK regular card but could headline a fight night on Sky.

Beterbiev vs Yarde

Frank Warren has booked the O2 Arena for October to stage Artur Beterbiev’s mandatory title defence against Britain’s Anthony Yarde. Beterbiev stopped Smith Jr in 2-rounds last Saturday, Yarde has been the #1 challenger since beating Lyndon Arthur in their rematch last year. Beterbiev-Yarde is likely to take place on October 22/29 on BT Sport Box Office.
