Derek Chisora DROPS Joe Joyce On The Way To A Unanimous Victory

The fight started how anyone would expect, with Chisora landing huge hooks and Joyce struggling to get out of the way. However, Joyce was also landing with shots of his own, making this a sluggish but entertaining bout right from the off.

Derek Chisora favoured the corners of the ring as he attempted to lure Joyce in closer to him before throwing his trademark hooks. Joyce, however, started to use his boxing ability and range to try and stay away from his opponent but ‘Del Boy’ occasionally managed to find ways through. The fight’s tempo slowed but not as much as viewers would have anticipated as both men continued to trade big shots throughout the contest.

Round 9 saw Derek Chisora almost going down due to exhaustion but out of nowhere, Joyce was caught with a big right hand and landed on the canvas. The top boxing experts wouldn’t have been able to predict how the 10th round would unfold after this in the 9th.

The Juggernaut hit the deck again in the final round, but it was not deemed a knockdown. At the end of the fight, everyone must have been scratching their heads as to who would win this absolute battle, but it was Chisora who had his arm raised after winning by unanimous decision.

What’s next for Derek Chisora? He’s iterated that he wants to have 50 fights, including one in Africa and after a performance like that, it’s going to be difficult for anyone to see him walking away from the sport just yet.

Joe Joyce, on the other hand, may have fought his last fight despite alluding to a return in his post-fight interview with TNT Sports.

‘The Piranha’ Ryan Garner vs ‘Sharpshooter’ Archie Sharp

Ryan Garner retained his WBC International Super Featherweight title after a gruelling contest against Archie Sharp. He won the contest via unanimous decision and remains unbeaten.

A clash of heads caused a cut above the left eye of Archie Sharp in round 4. Both fighters had success up to this point with ‘The Piranha’ stalking his prey and Sharp using his feet well to get out of danger for the most part.

The relentless pace forced the tempo of the fight to slow down but both men continued to throw with intent. Garner dominated on the scorecards with one judge scoring it 98-92 and the other two scoring it 97-93.

Moses Itauma vs Mariusz Wach

Moses Itauma retained the WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight championship in brutal fashion as he wins by stoppage in round 2.

Mariusz Wach was no match for Itauma’s incredible hand speed and accuracy and after being knocked down initially in the second round, it became obvious that he didn’t want any part of the fight. Big statement made by Itauma who blows away his toughest test to date and remains undefeated.

‘The Menace’ Dennis McCann vs Ionut Baluta 2

Dennis McCann remains undefeated and picks up the EBU European Super Bantamweight title after an impressive performance in the rematch against Ionut Baluta, winning via UD.

Lively start to the fight from both men but it was McCann who put together the better, more composed shots as he fought off flurries from Baluta in the opening rounds. Baluta grew into the fight and his unconventional fighting style made the Englishman stay focused to avoid any stray shots.

Sickening body shots from McCann undoubtedly slowed down his opponent and his brilliant distance management allowed him to stay out of the way of any shots whilst delivering his own.

‘Sugar Boy Roy’ Royston Barney-Smith vs Brian Barajas

Royston Barney-Smith cruised to a unanimous win after a mature and classy performance earned him the vacant WBO Youth Super Featherweight title.

From the first bell, Sugar Boy utilized his longer reach and powerful left hand, catching his opponent with some great shots throughout the fight. RBS suffered a cut above his left eye following a clash of heads at the end of the second round, but his southpaw stance continued to seemingly unpick all of the defensive locks of Barajas’ orthodox fighting style and proved to get the better of the Colombian over 8 rounds.

‘The Nightmare’ Sean Noakes vs Inder Bassi

Sean Noakes picked up the English Welterweight title after a unanimous points victory over Inder Bassi.

Despite what Carl Frampton of TNT Sports described as an ‘untidy’ first half to the fight, Sean Noakes comfortably led by being the aggressor and landing the better shots. The relentless pressure from Noakes slowly wore down his opponent and the man from Maidstone looked to be on top despite being given constant reminders that it wasn’t going to be an easy night. Bassi deserved to see the final bell as he put in a commendable performance but was just not good enough to stop The Nightmare.

‘Prince’ Aadam Hamed vs Georgi Velichkov

Prospect, Aadam Hamed comfortably saw off his Georgi Velichkov despite his opponent standing tough throughout. The son of the iconic boxing figure, Prince Naseem Hamed used his height and reach well and boxed his way to a unanimous decision victory after 4 rounds. A second win in his second professional contest.
